DAY 127.1 | His Last Bow
In No Time To Die, James Bond meets his end in a dramatic final act, sacrificing himself to ensure the safety of his loved ones. The climactic scene takes place in the Faroe Islands, specifically on the island of Kalsoy.
The local residents, or at least with the support of the local tourism board, erected a tombstone on Kalsoy to commemorate the filming location of Bond's death. The tombstone is made from Faroese basalt, a local stone. You can visit this tombstone today.
The tombstone is located near the Kallur Lighthouse on Kalsoy, which was a prominent filming location for the island scenes. It's meant to represent the general area where Bond's fate was sealed.
The tombstone is engraved with the words: "In Memory of James Bond, 1962-2021" and the quote "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist," which M says in the film's eulogy. The dates refer to the year of the first Bond film and the year No Time To Die was released.
It's worth noting that while the filming of the island scenes took place in the Faroe Islands, Daniel Craig himself did not travel there for filming. His scenes were shot against a green screen and digitally inserted into the Faroese landscapes. (Nefarious times we live in... — Last3xit)
